This is SUCH an exciting time — and a time that you’ll look back on with wonder — was there really a time where this little life wasn’t here with us in the world and part of our family? I’m excited to capture it for you, and I’m thrilled that you — and your soon-to-be kiddo — will have the photos from your family/maternity session to help you see and remember what it was like.
Paperwork and Information
Client Info Form and Agreement. This is reeeeaaallly important — it helps me get ready for your session, gives me an idea of what you’re hoping for, and can help determine session location, etc.
Getting Ready
The first question I always get from maternity clients is “What do I wear?” The general tips on figuring out what to wear that I provide for other family sessions are definitely applicable here. Your top priority should be wearing something that is comfortable and that you feel good in. Of course, when a baby bump is the reason for the session, we want to pay special attention to making sure that baby bump is visible and looking good. Something form fitting that shows the belly’s shape is best. Steer away from big, bold patterns that might distract from the belly shape, but more subtle patterns can definitely work. Feel free to send me photos of options you’re considering if you’d like some help ahead of time. And don’t worry — while posing is not a big part of any LYYP session, I’ll definitely direct you so that you and your baby-on-board are both looking your best. Once you’ve decided what to wear, help dad and any siblings choose outfits that are comfortable and authentic to their personalities. There’s definitely no need to match, but it’s a good a idea to make sure nothing clashes and that everything looks good together — almost like one big outfit.
