Right before heading out for my big family reunion in Greece, I got some exciting news.
TWO of my images were included in the “Honorable Mention” set for the 2024 Click Best Child Photographer Awards.
Lemme tell, you … that feels gooooood! Here they are:
Entering contests can feel weird sometimes. I tell myself that paying attention to and meeting the contest deadlines the various photography associations set for reviewing and editing my portfolio helps me keep up with a chore that has to be done anyway. Without these deadlines, would I ever pull this chore off the back burner?
But the ALSO truth is that I (and most people, really?) thrive on the recognition these contests (sometimes) provide. I of course live for positive feedback from the families I photograph, but recognition from a disconnected and objective audience outside of my business really take my job satisfaction to another level.
Both of these images have gotten recognition before. The cartoon baby placed in a NAPCP Baby Photography Image Competition, and the boy cellist was a finalist in a Click Voice Competition. I think it’s cool that different sets of eyes — none of whom know this sweet cartoon baby or this handsome cellist the way I do — can see the power of the photographs.
Thanks for looking,
~Jaye
