It almost happened.
After nearly two years of posting my “Moments of the Month” before the end of the following month, (sometimes just before the end), I almost missed May. The problem with May, you see, is that there are just SO MANY moments caught in photos that I love. And the job of telling May’s story (by culling, editing and blogging the photos that I deem to best tell the story) is about as unfit for the month of June as a job can be for a month. If you know what I mean.
The trick to getting it done just under the wire (as I have — yay me!) was imagining how disappointed I would be if I returned from our vacation (I told you about that already, right?) and was faced with the task of processing all of May’s photos AND all of June’s photos AND all the photos from our trip JUST as the mellower part of my summer was beginning. It’s enough to give this type-A personality a little mini panic attack. I mean, yes, I make the rules around here, but hey — they’re here for a reason. They’re here so that enjoying my photos — freezing my own moments, if you will — never gets so overwhelming that it ends up taking a back seat to all the other stuff. It’s important to me, and that’s why I’m going to give myself one more virtual pat on the back and get on with it.
Oh, one other strategy allowed this to happen today — letting go just a little bit. I mean, honestly. The photos here do NOT tell the WHOLE story of May. Sitting on my hard drive as we speak are soccer and rugby photos, orchestra and band photos, Mother’s Day and Memorial Day and Confirmation Day and beach day and plain old regular day moment photos that I love, too. But I made myself process and blog ALL of the ones I love, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Trust me on that. So I cut myself a little slack.
Garsh, Jaye. You talk too much. Anyone ever told you that? Here are some pictures to look at. A few of my favorite Moments from May.
I also already told you about a great weekend I spent in the city at the beginning of May with a group of photographers HERE, and I showed you my favorite, favorite picture from May HERE. I’m about to show you my Instagram snaps, as well. It sure was a month jam-packed with fun.
