It’s beautiful out right now. My last few sessions have benefitted from perfect weather and pretty backyards. As I sit inside and edit the photos, though, I’m so drawn to the indoor photos. A specific kind of indoor photo, actually. Look. Each of these photos tell the story of its respective kid in a way that you just couldn’t tell it on a front stoop or in front of a flowering bush, don’t you think? I love thinking about the smiles on these kids faces when they look at these photos 30 years from now and compare what they see to their memories of their “little kid” rooms. So cool.
Of course, your kid doesn’t have to have a huge mural painted on their wall to make a photo of their room something they (and you, of course) will cherish. There’s more to it than that. The books on the shelves. The favorite stuffed animals on the bed. The home-made pillowcase. And how relaxed they are in their very own space. How themselves they are. That’s what I’m looking for with my camera, and that’s what’s captured so well in their rooms.
Anyway, that’s just a little aside during a week when I scored “In my room” gold multiple times. Hope you enjoyed it! (Stay tuned to the blog for more highlights from each of these sessions, or you can see some sneak peeks from each of these HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE).
Thanks for looking!
