“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.” ~ Melody Beatie
I’m grateful for our August. It was a strange one, for sure. These photos speak for themselves, mostly. Except the ones at the end — I’d better explain. Our walk in Breezy point has a theme party on the last Saturday of every summer (“Mardi Gras”), where we choose a theme and each house cooks, decorates, etc according to that theme. The theme this year was states, and we were Kentucky. (Also pictured are some friends from California, Florida and New Mexico ;))
These first couple of photos are actually from July — I forgot to include them in July’s post. (Shhhh!)
The kids and I were in Coney Island for some pre-Cyclones game fun when we learned of Papa’s passing. The sudden downpour of rain seemed appropriate. It’s interesting to me that we were standing underneath the Coney Island parachute ride when I read the email — Papa’s summer job the year he was sixteen was running the parachute ride. Throughout the wake and funeral process, my kiddos made me proud.
We did end up making a Brooklyn Cyclones game later in August after all … along with all of Breezy Point. It was Breezy Point night (thanks, Cyclones!)

Oh, and speaking of Instagram, I signed up for something AWESOME today. Awesome and automatic. I might tell you about it real soon.
Thanks for looking!
