If you had told me fourteen years ago that I would be taking photos of any kind in a studio, I’d probably roll my eyes. (I’m not really the eye-rolling type, actually … but if i was, I probably would. Because I definitely didn’t think I was the studio type).
And listen. In-home, super relaxed, pseudo documentary family and newborn sessions will always have my heart.
But.
There’s been an evolution of sorts that has led to a collection of photos and experience that I seriously love. (If you want to skip past my ramblings and see a sampling of those photos, just scroll!)
It started, probably, with the preschool photos. There was more demand for them than I could fill at the few schools I photograph, so I tried out an in-home studio popup in 2023.
That was super successful, so in 2024 I sought out and found the perfect studio rental for more kid portraits.
Since I had the space, I couldn’t resist creating some family and “mom and me” offerings to try.
Those were super fun, too.
I have been pleasantly surprised, through all of this, how much motion and variety and real-ness and FUN can be fit into a short session in a relatively small space.
So.
I don’t know exactly what studio offerings might be on the menu in the future, but … I pretty much can guarantee you will see some flavor of studio offerings again. And if you want to know what those are, you should be on this list.
Sounds fun, right?
