Hey — it’s the FOUR YEAR anniversary of my Moments of the Month posts.

Yep, I started doing this in July of 2011 when I realized that this awesome new business I had birthed, awesome as it was, was getting in the way of my own personal mission to keep up with documenting my own family’s mundane and extraordinary adventures. What I needed was a system of deadlines. Every month now, I sit down and choose a few favorite photos that I’ve taken and post them here with my Instagram snaps (added in 2012) and my little One Second Every Day video (added 2015). I try to post them by the middle of the following month, but I tend to be easy on myself if I’m running late. (Yeah, I’m a pretty good boss). At the end of the year, they all go in a big annual “McLaughlin Family Adventures” book. Gotta say, I’m loving this system.

July 2015 was truly, truly unusual. My baby girl left us for more than a month to spend time with cousins in Ireland, and an Irish cousin came and stayed with us for most of the time she was gone. Lots of adventures ensued, and I was even more outnumbered by boys in all of them than I usually am. Add these adventures to the normal schedule of family and friend visits, beach time and day trips that living at the beach usually entails, and you’ve got a month super crowded with photo ops.
