When I rang the doorbell for this newborn and family session a while back, here’s what I knew: baby number four had recently arrived — a gorgeous little girl. Here’s what else I knew: Big brother number one was three years old. Big brother number two was two years old. And big sister had only recently passed the one year mark.
When mom answered the door, she said, in the quietest, calmest voice and with the warmest of smiles, “Welcome to the crazy house.”
Over the next few hours, I got to know this newly-minted family of six. Both mom and dad were so calm, so patient, and so loving that it was a delight to see. The three big siblings were beyond excited by the newest member of their club — they couldn’t stop giving her kisses and little squeezes. Babies themselves, they played and climbed and wrestled and hammed it up. Littlest sister stayed calm and serene as they bounced joyfully around her, and both mom and dad kept them in line with their calm, understanding vigilance.
Not everyone is cut out for a gaggle of four kids under the age of four. It takes having a high threshold for chaos, to say the least. But these two are naturals. I think these photos show a family filled with energy and love. I’m glad this family will always have them to fill in the blanks in their memories of this special time in their lives.
