“Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”
— A.A. Milne
My favorite thing about newborn photos, I think, is that they really solve the mystery of what your little one looked like when she was squirming around in your belly (and kicking your ribs and headbutting your bladder). The transition between the balled-up floppiness of a five-day old fresh from the tummy and the unfolding limbs of an older newborn as she begins to wake up and appreciate the new roominess of the outside world is soooo super short. It’s a memory that simply should not be entrusted to a brand new parent’s brain.
